Moon Over Buffalo

Picture it.
Buffalo, New York, 1953
You're a young advertising intern with aspirations of taking corporate America by storm
BUT
This is your family, a bunch of misfit B-movie actors on the verge of abyss-like obscurity hell bent on sucking you back into the fold because well...
The show must go on!

And it doesn't matter that your father is a loveable albeit completely insane thespian.

or that your mother, THE DIVA has an ego capable of filling two concert halls with a voice as dulcet as nails on a chalkboard.

or that your Ex, the one who still works for your parents...
...the one they adore.
-who once made you feel like this...

Now makes you feel like this...

Because, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
And go on it will even if everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

So come out and see MOON OVER BUFFALO.

Why not take all of me

This entry is mostly for my mother who is the only person I can think of who never gets tired of seeing pictures of me. Check out these online photo essays of a day in the life of a thespian whore and a cheeky boy in drag. Just click on one of the photo albums above to wisked away to Scantilyclad, Texas or Summit, Alabama courtesy of Picassa.
Enjoy.

Stop me if you've heard this one... a Whore, a mischievous boy, and an ingenue walk into a...

It's a great time to be an actor right now in Tokyo. 2006 brought in more work than I could shake a stick at (if only all of it were paid) Oh well...babysteps to the top. I have been in constant rehearsals from February '06 to the present and while it all can get a bit overwhelming I'm grateful for the challenge and opportunity to pursue the career of my dreams in a city with as insatiable an apetite for the performing arts as Tokyo. It's nice to count myself amongst the working actors out there. And if you missed any of my shows last year here are a few highlights from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and The Ransom of Red Chief. Keep on the look out for more pictures of my latest production Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig. I play Rosalind Hay, the self-exiled daughter of two unstable and narcissistic but lovable B-movie actors who are trying to audition for the roles of their lives under less than ideal circumstances. The play opens at the American Club Jan 26-28. Tickets are ¥4000 at the door or ¥3000 if you go through me. For more information visit tokyoplayers.org. There's a link to the site convieniently located on this blog.

Celebrating Life

Yesterday's festivities were proof positive that life truly does begin at 30. My good friend Deanne just hit the major milestone with all the grace of a long necked swan and I was happy for the privilege to celebrate with her. A good time was had by all and I leave you here with just a few of the highlights.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEANNE!

Laugh for your life

Studies have shown that laughing helps protect the heart. Laughter has been shown to increase tolerance of pain and boost the body’s production of infection-fighting antibodies, which can help prevent hardening of the arteries and subsequent conditions caused thereby such as angina, heart attacks, or strokes.

So excuse me while I do CPR on your funnybone.

I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde.

Happy New Year

Greetings from Tokyo and welcome to my new blog friends! Can you guess what my New Year's Resolution is? I've only got another hour and a half to make sure it doesn't go belly up on its maiden voyage. This year I've committed myself to the idea of better communications and getting this blog published on the 1st day of the year is crucial to its success. Yikes one hour and twenty-six minutes left! I'll type fast. Gone are the days of cramming your inboxes full of mass emails with 1000 GB photo attachments. I've entered the new millenium friends and it only took me seven years. So stop by and visit for awhile. The door is always unlocked and the tea is always brewing!

Happy 2007!
